ForYourArt and Artforum hosted a cocktail reception at Chateau Marmont in Hollywood to celebrate the launch of Gary Panter, a two-volume monograph devoted to Panter’s work, published by PictureBox.

The publication features essays by Robert Storr and Mike Kelley, among others, as well as hundreds of reproductions of Panter’s comic work, drawings, sculptures, posters, album covers, and sketchbooks. It serves as the definitive look at Panter’s contribution both to art and visual culture in general, from his groundbreaking graphic design on punk and Frank Zappa albums to his award-winning work on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse to his influential comics.

As part of the launch, which took place on May 30, 2008, ForYourArt hosted a cocktail reception and projected a video of interviews with Matt Groening and Mike Kelley about Gary Panter.
