Patronage Best Museum Groups to Meet Artists ( Apr 14, 2018 )

LAXART’s Curator’s Council ($1500 annual dues) is inspired by exchange and dialogue. Among other invitations to talks, performance, and events, the group visits four art studios per year. Artadia’s Contemporary Council ($1000 annual dues) invites members to 4–6 events, like studio visits and exhibition walkthroughs, annually. A national organization, Artadia’s events take place around the country, but primarily in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The MAK Center for Art and Architecture’s House Guest membership ($1670 annual dues) offers a range of perks, like invitations to private events and tickets to the biannual MAK Games. Most of the MAK center’s events take place at the organization’s mid-century modern homes and apartments, which host artists, designers, and architects from around the world on residencies. LAND’s Nomadic Council ($1000 annual dues) includes two studio visits and lunch with LAND exhibitions artists, as well as two collection visits and cocktail parties, plus a number of other benefits that will get you out and exploring L.A.’s artist community.
