The Surdna Foundation, fostering sustainable communities in the United States, is now accepting proposals created by individual artists, culture bearers and nonprofit arts organizations. If awarded, funds will support projects developed in response to the challenges of specific communities and artists and organizations whose long-term, deeply-rooted work has increased social engagement external to a singular political framework. The Artist as Activist grants program provides resources to artists of all disciplines, designers, and other creative professionals who address important local and global challenges through their ideas, projects, and practices.
The Artist as Activist travel and research grants support artists to travel or conduct research related to the public aspect of their work by granting between $2,500 to $10,000.
