Ken Price: Bulgogi

Opening day of an exhibition featuring Bulgogi, a large-scale sculpture by artist Ken Price. First exhibited in New York six years ago and later shown in Europe, Bulgogi was returned to Price in 2008. The artist has spent the last several years reworking the piece, changing it’s color, form and surface. On view through October 20, 2012.
Jenny Holzer: The Future Please
L&M Arts (Venice)
Opening reception for a show featuring works by New York-based conceptual artist Jenny Holzer. The Future Please features selections from Holzer’s work from the 1970s to the present in addition to her latest body of work, the Redaction Paintings, which are based on declassified and other sensitive US documents and inspired by Russian Constructivism.

The Museum of Memory: A Tribute to Chris Marker
Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood)
This four day screening series features the work of French filmmaker Chris Marker, who passed away in late July, 2012. The program includes screenings of La Jetee, Sans Soleil, The Last Bolshevik, One Day in the Life of Andrei, Arsenevich, and Remembrance of Things to Come. The series runs from September 13-15 and on September 17. Tickets are available online.
Perry Rubenstein Gallery (Hollywood)
Opening reception for a collection of works by Los Angeles-based photographer Zoe Crosher in a new building designed by wHY Architecture. Crosher presents works from her multi-year Michelle duBois project, a series of photographs that re-imagines the work of self-documentarian Michelle duBois.
ARTBOOK@Paper Chase (West Hollywood)
Reception for the release of Sharon Harper’s book From Above and Below. The monograph features twelve years worth of Harper’s photographs in addition to texts by Jimena Canales and Phillip Prodger. A book signing will follow the reception.
Artists for Obama

This fundraising event benefits the Obama Victory fund and features the work of artists including John Baldessari, Frank Gehry, Jasper Johns, Susan Rothenberg, and Richard Serra. A portfolio of limited edition prints by all 19 artists is available. The evening features guest speaker Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to President Obama, music by DJ Eddie Ruscha, and food by a number of local chefs including Michael Voltaggio, Neal Fraser, and Suzanne Goin. “Guy Webster: Rock and Roll Perspective”
Annenberg Space for Photography (Century City)
This event, part of the Annenberg’s Iris Night Lecture Series, features photographer Guy Webster. One of the early innovators of rock and roll photography, Webster’s 50-year career has included shooting hundreds of album covers for acts including the Rolling Stones, the Mamas and the Papas, the Beach Boys, the Doors, and Simon & Garfunkel.
