The Last Days of Pompeii
Getty Villa (Pacific Palisades)
Opening day of a new exhibition featuring works that deal with the period just before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius at Pompeii. The exhibition takes its name from Edward Bulwer-Lytton’s 1834 novel The Last Days of Pompeii, a melodrama of Pompeian life set immediately prior to the eruption. Several works inspired by the novel are included in the exhibition. On view through January 7, 2013.
