ReVISIONS of LA
Presented by LACE, this free arts workshop features drawing lessons from artists Jocelyn Grau, Veronica Duarte, and Andrew Sexton. The intention of the workshop is to explore how urban environments are constructed and what that means to our everyday lives. Materials are provided.
Inspired by MOCA’s current exhibition The Painting Factory: Abstraction After Warhol, this free workshop gives participants an opportunity to tour the exhibition and make paintings that explore popular culture and technology.
A+D Urban Hike
Santa Ana Arts District (Santa Ana)
A+D Architecture and Design Museum presents an urban hike through the Santa Ana Arts District, an area characterized by a number of Art Deco buildings and several historic movie houses. The tour, part of A+D’s summer urban hike series, will begin in the neighborhood and run 60-90 minutes. Tickets are $20 and available online.

Hammer Museum (Westwood)
Artist Koki Tanaka presents a free performance in the Hammer’s Lobby Gallery. Elaborating on his current Made in L.A. 2012 video installation, Tanaka’s performance features ten live flutists complementing the marimba players in his video. Seating for ten audience members will be provided on a first come first served basis. A second performance will take place at 2:30pm.
Artist Discussion: Gajin Fujita
Pacific Asia Museum (Pasadena)
This event features Japanese-American artist Gajin Fujita in conversation with Curator Bridget Bray. Fujita’s work combines elements of traditional Japanese ukiyo-e art with contemporary American street art and Pop art. This discussion focuses on Fujita’s work, particularly that in Museum’s current exhibition Gajin Fujita: Ukiyo-e in Contemporary Painting.
Jazz Collector’s Jam
Bergamot Station (Santa Monica)
This free event features live jazz by the Ralph Gibson Jazz Ensemble on the lower east side of Bergamot Station. The event also includes admission to a variety of galleries throughout the art complex. Refreshments provided by Stacked Wine, The S’Cream Truck, and more.
Moveable Feasts: Katie Grinnan
AOC Wine Bar and Restaurant (Mid-City West)
The Los Angeles Nomadic Division, (LAND), honors Los Angeles-based multimedia artist Katie Grinnan with this installment of their Moveable Feasts dining series. Grinnan’s work investigates the intersection between information technology and subjective interpretation. This dinner will feature a specially crafted menu by AOC. Tickets are $150-$175 and available online.
Steve Roden: Sequences and Scores
Spielberg Theatre at the Egyptian (Hollywood)
Presented by LACE and the Los Angeles Filmforum, this event features screenings of artist Steve Roden’s first video work in addition to never before screened super 8mm projects to be accompanied by a score to be performed live by Roden. This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Shells, Bells, Steps and Silences, currently on view at LACE. Tickets are $10 and available online.
