Pop icon Neil Diamond plays the Greek Theatre in commemoration of his historical run of concerts at the same venue in the August 1977. The original Hot August Night recording from The Greek Theatre concerts was one of Neil Diamond’s most successful albums worldwide, staying at the #1 spot on the charts for 29 weeks. Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (Downtown)
The third and final installation of the PLAY MOCA performances series features music by Cults and Lord Huron, a DJ set by Victoria Bergsman of Taken by Trees, and visuals by Emmett Malloy. This collaborative multimedia event is presented by Smashbox Cosmetics and curated by IAMSOUND and IO ECHO. The Schindler House (West Hollywood)
Co-presented by the MAK Center and SASSAS, sound. at the Schindler House: Tape Music is a concert of music composed for reel-to-reel tape. The architecture of the Schindler House creates multiple areas in which the historic sound form is revisited via works by artists including John Wiese, MIke Kelley, and Jim Shaw. Performances by William Basinski at 5pm and 7pm. Tickets are $10 and available online.
Echo Park Rising
The Echo (Echo Park)
This day-long music festival features more than 80 acts including the Gaslamp Killer, Fool’s Gold, Future Ghost, Son Ark, and Black Apples. Sponsored by Origami and 98.7FM, Echo Park Rising is a celebration of neighborhood businesses, art and music. This all ages event is free and priority entrance to the Echo and the Echoplex is available online.

KChung Summer Bash
1526 Fishburn Ave. (Lincoln Park)
Presented by KChung Radio, this party features musical performances by Pangea, Crazy Band, Corey Fogel, Gun Outfit, Keychain, Lucky Dragons and DJ sets by Love Foxxx and DJ Hollywood Nites. All proceeds from this event benefit KChung Radio. Admission is $7 at the door.

The Smell (Downtown)
Brooklyn-based trio Vivian Girls play The Smell for a benefit to free the members of recently jailed Russian punk group Pussy Riot. Bleached, Pangea, and Haim open. The event also features DJ sets by Allison Wolfe, Brooke Candy, and Jim Smith. Tickets are $10.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 28
Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever (Hollywood)
Rock trio the Divine Fits, made up of Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, and New Bomb Turks’ Sam Brown, play the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in support of their debut album A Thing Called Divine Fits. Tickets for this sold out show are currently available on the secondary market.
