Opening day of The Venice Beach Biennial, a weekend event that will turn the Venice Beach boardwalk into an outdoor exhibition venue. Over the course of the weekend, more than 50 artists will set up vending stands alongside veteran boardwalk artists, exhibiting new bodies of work, collaborating with veterans on new projects, displaying site-specific sculptures or installations, and presenting live performances. This event is directed by Hammer curator Ali Subotnick.

Gordy Grundy Burn: A Retrospective

This one night only event will feature a retrospective of works by Los Angeles-based visual artist and art writer Gordy Grundy. Burn will feature over two hundred paintings, works on paper, monoprints and etchings. Music will be provided by DJ Crown of the Destroyer Radio. The event will be preceded by a prix fixe dinner event at Union Station’s Traxx restaurant. Tickets are $35.

Into the Night: Playtime
Skirball Cultural Center (Brentwood)

This extended hours event will feature a musical performances by Sea Wolf, Geographer, and KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez in addition to crafts, puppetry, card and board games, scavenger hunts, outdoor hula hooping and balloon art, and screenings of director Jacques Tati’s Play Time. Into the Night will go until 1am. Tickets for this 21 and older event are $16.50 in advance, $20 day of, and available online.
