Made in L.A. Music: Allah-Las
Hammer Museum (Westwood)
The third of the Made in L.A. 2012 Music series will feature a set by KCRW DJ Anne Litt in the Hammer’s courtyard. This free event will include extended gallery hours, a cash bar, free museum admission and a performance by the Allah-Lahs. Presented by the The Hammer and KCRW, the Made in L.A. Music series will take place at the Hammer every Thursday evening through August 9, 2012.
FRIDAY, JULY 13
Gordy Grundy: Burn: A Retrospective
Coagula Curatorial (Chinatown)
This one night only event will feature a retrospective of works by Los Angeles-based visual artist and art writer Gordy Grundy. Burn will feature over two hundred paintings, works on paper, monoprints and etchings. Music will be provided by DJ Crown of the Destroyer Radio. The event will be preceded by a prix fixe dinner event at Union Station’s Traxx restaurant. Tickets are $35.
Into the Night: Playtime
Skirball Cultural Center (Brentwood)
This extended hours event will feature a musical performances by Sea Wolf, Geographer, and KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez in addition to crafts, puppetry, card and board games, scavenger hunts, outdoor hula hooping and balloon art, and screenings of director Jacques Tati’s Play Time. Into the Night will go until 1am. Tickets for this 21 and older event are $16.50 in advance, $20 day of, and available online.

Go West: David Ellis and Kris Kuksi
Mark Moore Gallery (Culver City)
Curated by Joshua Liner, Go West will feature two concurrent solo exhibitions by artists David Ellis and Kris Kuksi. Ellis’ multidisciplinary works include paintings and installations and explore different aspects of music. Kuksi’s works include a series of large-scale paintings. Both shows on view through August 25, 2012.
For The Record: Boogie Nights
Rockwell (Los Feliz)
Conceived and ereated by Shane Scheel and Christopher Lloyd Bratten, this theatrical performance will feature music and clips from Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood, and Boogie Nights. Tickets are $30-$35 and available online.
SUNDAY, JULY 15
Abbot Kinney Annex
Various Small Fires (Venice)
Curated by Human Resources and Sumaiya Kaveh, this event will feature musical performances by Kathleen Kim and Kelly Coats, Paul Waddell, and SFV Acid. Abbot Kinney Annex will take place during the Venice Beach Biennial. Free maps of the event will be provided.
L&M Arts (Venice)
This party and art exhibition will feature performances by Tenacious D and Haim and works by artists including John Baldessari, Sam Durant, Mark Hagen, Amanda Ross-Ho, Alexis Smith and more. VIP admission begins at 6pm. Refreshments will be provided by Gjelina, Christophe Happillon and other local Venice establishments. VIP tickets cost $200 in advance and $250 at the door. General admission begins at 8pm. General admission tickets cost $100 in advance and $150 at the door. Proceeds benefit the Venice Family Clinic.
