Artist Talk: Kim MacConnel & Nancy Monk

The Knotwork Workshop: Let’s Make a Hammock

The Santa Monica Museum of Art presents Cause for Creativity: The Knotwork Workshop: Let’s Make a Hammock, a public program to create a giant, six-sided rope hammock in the center of Bergamot Station Arts Center’s People Park. Participants will learn firsthand the art and engineering of knots from SMMoA’s director of education Asuka Hisa, Knowhow Shop’s Kagan Taylor and Justin Rice, and structural engineer Josef Taylor. This event is open to all ages and $10 to participate.

Veronika Kellndorfer: Abstract Neighbors

Dancing in Wonderland: Alice Rahon’s Orion, The Great Man of the Sky
LACMA (Miracle Mile)
For this event, theater group Laboratorio de la Máscara along with the choreographer from the South Indian dance group Shaktala, travel to Los Angeles to perform Orion, The Great Man of the Sky–an interpretation of artist Alice Rahon’s original work Ballet d’Orion. Inspired by a trip to India, the ballet was never performed during Rahno’s lifetime. This event repeats on Sunday, May 6 and is presented in conjunction with the final weekend of In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States.

My Little Pony Project
Toy Art Gallery (Fairfax)
Opening reception for a collection featuring one of a kind My Little Pony toys designed by artists including 64 Colors, Ana Bagayan, Angry Woebots, Eimi, HIME+YOU, Indie, Jillian Kate, J*RYU, Julie West, Kano, Kukula, Madoka Kinoshita, Martin Hsu, and Mark Mothersbaugh. Random Acts of Time
