Reading: The Collected Writing of Joe Brainard

Eight local literary fixtures will read from 20th century visual artist Joe Brainard’s writings, celebrating the release of the new anthology The Collected Writings of Joe Brainard. Readers will include Bernard Cooper, Amy Gerstler, Lewis MacAdams, Lisa Pearson, Aram Saroyan, Ara Shirinyan, Michael Silverblatt, and Benjamin Weissman.
ALOUD Featuring Terry Tempest Williams
Central Library (Downtown)
The Central Library’s ongoing ALOUD lecture series presents author, conservationist and activist Terry Tempest Williams author of When Women Were Birds: Fifty-Four Variations on Voice. The discussion will be moderated by ALOUD curator Louise Steinman, Curator. Reservations are recommended for this free event.
UCLA Game Art Festival
Hammer Museum (Westwood)
The Hammer Student Association in collaboration with the UCLA Game Lab presents an evening of innovative gaming as part of the annual UCLA Game Art Festival, curated by Game Lab director and associate professor of Design Media Arts Eddo Stern. In addition to arcade games and tournaments, this event will also feature a video installation by William Kaminski, Caine’s Arcade, and music by The Attic Bat and +COLE. Cash bar and snacks will be served throughout the night.
