ForYourArt Has Broken Down Some of The Steps to Becoming a Patron
Become a member at a museum at the highest level you can afford.
Members get an insider-experience of the museum like no other guest. Enjoy benefits such as free admission, priority seating at public programs, discounts at the museum store, and invitations to private events and exhibition openings. With a higher level of membership, you are given additional access to exclusive curatorial tours and parties held by the Director, as well as being recognized on a donor wall or calendar.
Meet the board members.
Board members are responsible for setting the organization’s mission and ensuring that it accomplishes its vision. Talk to them about the process, what are their responsibilities, and what are the benefits. Joining a board is also a great opportunity to meet people who share your similar interests. ForYourArt has compiled a list of arts nonprofits in New York and Los Angeles for easy reference.
Contact the Development Office.
Now that you’ve joined a museum or nonprofit, try contacting the development team. Being in touch with the Development Office will give more opportunities to participate in annual fundraisers and benefit events.
Support a project.
There are many projects that are dedicated to supporting artists and creative projects. Each year, United States Artists‘ USA Projects honors fifty artists with individual fellowships of $50,000. Also, Kickstarter helps fund tens of thousands projects in the fields ranging from music to food to technology.
